Carlisle Cullen | Peter Facinelli

About Them: Carlisle Cullen, born Stregoni Benefici, is Esme's husband and the adoptive father of Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Carlisle whose physical age is twenty-three and he is described as looking like a model. He has blond hair, stands at 6’2” and is slender but muscular. Carlisle theorizes that when a human is turned into a vampire, they will have an enhanced ability from their previous life. So according to his theory Carlisle believes he brought compassion from his human life. Carlisle has had centuries to perfect his medicinal talents, therefore making him an excellent doctor. Unlike most vampires, he is not at all tempted by the scent of human blood, due to the over 300 years he has spent holding back his temptations. While Carlisle has no special ability, he is able to have serious self-control and can hardly smell the scent of human blood while he is working. Throughout the Twilight saga, Carlisle works as a doctor, acting as the coven leader and offering medical advice and help whenever Bella is in need.

Their Early History: Carlisle Cullen was born in 1640’s and was the son of an Anglican pastor in London, England during a time of religious upheaval. His father and other pastors would hunt down creatures such as witches, werewolves, and vampires, and often mistook humans for them. As his father aged, Carlisle was put in charge. One night, he was attacked by a vampire and left to die on the streets. Knowing he would not be accepted by society, he hid himself and silently went through the painful transformation, emerging as a vampire. Horrified, he tried various methods of killing himself, but nothing worked. One night, he could endure hunger no longer and fed on a group of passing deer. Subsequently realizing that he did not have to live off humans, he set out to perfect his resistance to blood lust and become a doctor. For a short time, Carlisle lived with the Volturi, though he eventually left and traveled to the New World.

While treating patients with the Spanish Influenza, he met a woman who begged him to do whatever he could to save her son, Edward. Out of loneliness, Carlisle transformed him into a vampire and Edward became his companion. In 1921, Carlisle moved to Wisconsin where he treated Esme after a failed suicide attempt brought on by the loss of her infant son. Carlisle felt compelled to save her life and subsequently fell in love with her. Carlisle then transformed Rosalie Hale, a young woman who was almost killed by her drunken fiancé and his friends in Rochester, New York, and left in the street to die. While hunting, Rosalie later found a young man named Emmett who had been mauled by a bear, and carried him over 100 miles to Carlisle. Carlisle then changed Emmett, since Rosalie was unwilling to do it herself for fear of blood lust overwhelming her. After Carlisle changed Emmett, Carlisle and his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, where they made a treaty with the Quileute Native American tribe. The treaty stated that the Quileutes would leave the Cullens alone if the Cullen family did not bite any humans or trespass on their land. The Cullens agreed to this treaty, and lived in relative peace until they had to move on. Between the Cullen’s first and second stay in Forks, Alice and Jasper joined his coven as well, having found Carlisle on their own.

Career: Peter Facinelli studied acting at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School in New York City; his teachers there included William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman, Giancarlo Esposito, and Camryn Manheim. He has done numerous small projects and others that have gone on to do very well. Well known films he has done include Riding in the Car with Boys, The Scorpion King, Can’t Hardly Wait, Twilight, and the upcoming New Moon. He has also appeared in HBO’s Six Feet Under, FOX’s Fastlane, and FX’s Damages. Undeniably his appearance as Carlisle Cullen in Twilight will be the catalyst for new hits for Peter Fancinelli.

About Them: Facinelli grew up in a large Italian family in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, as the son of Italian immigrants Bruna, a homemaker, and Peter Facinelli, Sr., a waiter. Facinelli met his future wife, Jennie Garth, on the set of An Unfinished Affair, a 1996 made-for-TV movie. They married on January 20, 2001. He and Garth have three daughters together: Luca Bella (June 22, 1997), Lola Ray (December 6, 2002) and Fiona Eve (September 30, 2006). Peter was not interested in playing Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the film Twilight until after he had read the book. His favorite scene to film in Twilight was the vampire baseball scene. He played baseball in high school and saw it as "reliving the glory days". Robert Redford was Peter's inspiration when playing Carlisle Cullen in Twilight. Peter is a vegetarian (ironic at all?). He coaches his daughters’ soccer and baseball teams and while shooting Hollow Man 2 in Vancouver, he would fly back each weekend to catch the games. About Them: Emmett Cullen, originally born Emmett McCarty adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, adopted brother of Edward, Alice, and Jasper, and Rosalie's husband. Known for his bear like appearance, Emmett is described as being tall, burly, extremely muscular, and to most humans, the most intimidating of his adoptive siblings. He has slightly curly dark hair and dimpled cheeks. He loves to tease the people he loves and uses his intimidating presence to sometimes push some issues.

Their Early History: In 1935 while living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Emmett, who was then twenty, was mauled by a bear. The injuries from the attack were so severe that he would not live. He was found by Rosalie, who had been hunting in the area at the time. Seeing Emmett she was reminded of her friend's baby having the same curls, dimples, and innocent appearance. Refusing to let Emmett die, Rosalie carried him over a hundred miles to Appalachia back to Carlisle Cullen, asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire. Emmett joined Carlisle's coven, but initially had trouble adjusting to the family's diet of animal blood. Emmett is at first wary of Bella, knowing Edward’s internal struggle with her and eventually romantic relationship, but eventually warms up to her. He often teases her for her clumsiness and constant blushing, and eventually votes in favor of her becoming a vampire. Emmett’s teasing continues until Bella beats him in an arm wrestling match when she is a newborn vampire in Breaking Dawn.

Career: Kellan Lutz originally started modeling at the age of 13 for Abercrombie & Fitch, but a career change was on the horizon. After graduating from high school Kellan moved to Los Angeles for college, but started acting once he arrived and he has never stopped. If he had never picked up acting, Kellan wanted to either get a degree in Chemical Engineering or become a Navy SEAL. Kellan has had numerous small roles on television shows and smaller movies until his major debut as Emmett Cullen in Twilight came in November 2008. He can also be seen in Warrior, New Moon, and Afterlife.

About Them: Born in Dickinson, North Dakota but raised mostly in Arizona, Kellan Lutz appears to be a rather typical guy his age-minus that he has 7 siblings. Kellan is the middle child with one sister and six brothers. About Them: Born Rosalie Lillian Hale, Rosalie Hale is the adopted daughter of Esme and Carlisle Cullen, adoptive sister of Edward, Alice, and Jasper, and wife of Emmett. Rosalie throughout the books acts as the sister of Jasper and that they are Esme’s niece and nephew. Gorgeous even compared to other vampires, Rosalie acts and looks like a model. She is mean to Bella due to jealousy of her being human, and not wanting Bella to choose a life as a vampire. Rosalie is known for being vain and self centered. She wishes to be human and have children so much so that she would give up her immortality and beauty for it. Rosalie eventually warms up to Bella and wishes to reveal her past to Bella with the hopes that she will choose to stay human. She also joins the fight against a group of savage newborn vampires. With her new bond with Bella, Bella contacts Rosalie after finding out she is pregnant, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children. Rosalie stays by Bella's side throughout the pregnancy, defending her choice to keep the baby, and Rosalie acts as a guardian to the child, Renesmee, taking care of her while Bella is going through her transformation into a vampire.

Their Early History: Frozen at age eighteen and born in 1915 in Rochester, New York, Rosalie was the daughter of a banker. Tall, statuesque, and has long, wavy blonde hair, Rosalie is described as being the most beautiful person in the world. As a human, Rosalie was a woman who had beauty, elegance, class, and eyes resembling violets. A quick engagement with Royce King II led Rosalie to become extremely envious of her good friend Vera and her baby boy. While visiting them one night she noticed that she did not share the same relationship with Royce as Vera did with her husband. But on her walk home and Rosalie met an intoxicated Royce with his friends. Royce bragged about his fiancée's beauty, leading to her being beaten, presumably raped, and left to die. Carlisle came across her as he was a doctor in Rochester at the time and decided to change her into a vampire (hoping she would be a mate for Edward). After her transformation, she tortured and killed those who had beaten her, including Royce, but did not drink their blood.

Career: Nikki Reed did not intend to start acting but was thrown into the acting world by Catherine Hardwicke, Nikki’s father’s girlfriend as the time. Nikki eventually claimed the lead role and the movie was a success which gave her credit as a lead actress and a screenwriter. However, most critics agree that her next big role as Mini in Mini’s First Time is her most distinctive role. Through it, she gained even more recognition. Nikki Reed next landed the role of Rosalie Hale in Hardwicke’s Twilight which again thrust her into big time Hollywood. About Them: Jasper Hale, originally born Jasper Whitlock, is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, adoptive brother of Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie, and husband of Alice. Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans whenever he chose, Jasper lacks strong self-control. However, we also find that the "vegetarian" lifestyle is not Jasper's first choice and that this also affects his self-control. Tall with honey blond hair, muscular but yet lean, Jasper portrays his special ability well. Having learned at a young age as a human how to manipulate the emotions of those around him, his ability became exaggerated as a vampire. Now making him able to control the atmosphere of those he is around-calming tense people and other emotions that may be needed in his favor. His body is covered with crescent-shaped scars, after the many years of fighting, training, and executing newborn vampires. Jasper uses his ability to calm Bella when she is stressed or afraid. However, his lack of self control is evident as he attacks Bella after she gets a paper cut, prompting the Cullen family to leave Forks to protect Bella. Jasper again uses his ability to create a calm and un-tense atmosphere when he teaches the werewolves and vampires fighting techniques to defend themselves against newborn vampires.

Their Early History: Jasper Hale was born in Texas and joined the Confederate States Army in 1861 to serve in the Civil War. Due to his extremely charismatic personality, he ascended through the ranks quickly. In 1863 Maria, a vampire, found Jasper when he was twenty years old and turned him into a vampire. Recognizing his high rank in the army, Maria decided to change him into a vampire, thinking he would help her claim territory in Monterrey. Overseeing the training of the young vampires, Jasper also held the responsibility to execute them when they were no longer useful (about a year after their transformation- when their strength began to fade). Jasper grew weary of the lifestyle and left, joining an old friend, Peter, and his mate Charlotte. Feeling his prey’s emotions, even as they died, Jasper eventually left Peter and Charlotte, as he no longer wanted to feed on humans. Alice, foreseeing that they would be together, met him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia, and together they sought out the Cullen family.

Career: Jackson’s acting career began involvement in the local community theatre when he was accepted into the youth actors program, The Pickwick Players. There he grew to appreciate classical theatre and flourished in Shakespearean plays-he performed in the Southwest Shakespeare Festival as Ferdinand in The Tempest. Originally planning to attend The Royal Scottish Academy after high school graduation, he first tried a summer in Los Angeles, California. He never left, and Jackson hit up the television screen and some smaller movies until his break through debut in Twilight. His next appearances include S. Darko, Dread, and New Moon.

About Them: Monroe Jackson Rathbone was born in Singapore but has had the fortune to live all around the world. In his off-time from acting, Jackson continues to write music with Alex, performing at small open-mic nights and bookings. The two joined forces with other music producers in LA and San Diego to form Prolifik Productions and soon had a professional music studio built in their own living room. In what little free time he has, Jackson loves to watch and study movies, as well as listening to and studying music, which he has been doing most of his life. A folk and blues artist himself, he enjoys such musical talents as Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, and Steppin’ In It. Jackson enjoys playing his guitar and other musical instruments such as the harmonica. As an actor, Jackson looks to Johnny Depp as a sort of hero-his ability to transcend genres and being known as an actor first and celebrity second is what inspires Jackson to continue on with his dreams.
